Terry Theise, amerikanischer Weinprophet und Importeur österreichischer Spitzenweine, bezeichnet Johannes Hirsch, seinen „Winzer des Jahres 2009“, gar als furchtlos. Furchtlos deshalb, weil Johannes Hirsch im Dienste der Qualität seiner Weine keinerlei Konventionen folgt und ohne Wenn und Aber auch gegen den Strom schwimmt. Weil er nicht eingreift, die Natur und den Wein im Weingarten zulässt und auch im Weinkeller nur das behutsam zutage bringt, was draußen gewachsen ist.
